Final Fantasy 10" director says possibility of 10-3 loss "is not zero.

A rough outline of Final Fantasy 10-3 has been released.

The comments came from character designer Tetsuya Nomura, writer Kazushige Nojima, and Final Fantasy 10 director Motomu Toriyama, and were discovered on Twitter by the always perceptive Nibel. Nomura wrote in his Famitsu column earlier this month that Nojima wrote a synopsis of the sequel and said the game is not in development, but "the concept is there."

Toriyama then said that while there is "no chance" that Final Fantasy 10-3 will be made, the team's focus is currently on finishing the Final Fantasy 7 remake. Nojima also said, "More and more people are saying that the first Final Fantasy they played was Final Fantasy 10.

The idea of Final Fantasy 10-3 seems pretty cool until you remember that Mr. Nojima is the one who wrote the audio drama Final Fantasy 10 -Will-. Frankly, it is one of the worst Final Fantasy legends of all time. It is technically canonical, but widely ignored by the community.

Nojima is also the author of the absolutely bonkers Japanese-only novel Final Fantasy 10-2.5. As Alex Donaldson points out, the plot is that Tidus somehow mistakes a literal bomb for a blitzball, kicks it and detonates it, killing him.

Nomura also stated that the audio drama and the Japan-only novel were actually written based on the general outline of Final Fantasy 10-3. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is far from complete, and even the PC version has not yet been released.
