No New Star Wars Movies on EA Play Live

No new Star Wars games will be on display at next week's EA Play Live showcase, the publisher has confirmed. That doesn't mean that EA doesn't have a Star Wars game planned, however, as the EA Star Wars Twitter account promises, "The entire staff looks forward to sharing our vision for a galaxy far, far away with you next year and celebrating with you."

EA held exclusive development rights to Star Wars games until January, when Disney announced the return of Lucasfilm Games. Shortly thereafter, Ubisoft announced an open-world Star Wars game in development at Massive Entertainment. Nevertheless, EA's interest in Star Wars did not slow down, and the publisher quickly assured the company that it would continue to develop games in the series.

Nothing is confirmed, but Respawn is currently looking for a role on the Star Wars team and has hinted at a possible sequel to Jedi Fallen Order. Earlier this year, a rumor circulated on Reddit that a third installment in the modern "Star Wars Battlefront" series was in development at DICE.

At this stage, some of EA's more exciting upcoming games will not be showcased, and EA Play Live will be quite focused on news of Battlefield 2042, EA Sports titles, and perhaps Apex Legends. The Dead Space reboot is also heavily rumored.

EA Play Live will take place on July 22 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/6 pm BST and July 23 at 3 am in Australia.
