Warframe Live Event Breaks Concurrent User Record, Crashes Servers

Relay, Warframe's player hub, crashed to the ground pretty solidly today as hundreds of thousands of people logged in for TennoCon, the free-to-play action MMO's annual event. This year's TennoCon saw Relay's servers scaled to the limit as Warframe enthusiasts flocked in droves to the player hub, where in-game displays were set up in conjunction with live-streamed presentations. While it is possible to join and play the game itself, it is difficult to join Relay. Or perhaps you can't.

According to SteamDB and Steamcharts, there are currently over 175,000 Warframe players online.Warframe also has a standalone client, available for purchase on the Epic Games Store and running on over five major consoles. Nonetheless, the total number of players on Steam is more than 10% above last year's previous peak of just under 155,000.

Here's how to watch TennoCon 2021. So far, the main announcement this year is that all versions of Warframe, including the just-announced mobile version, will be cross-play and cross-save enabled. Developer Digital Extremes is also expected to release more information about its upcoming expansion, The New War, which was first announced in 2018 and has been highly anticipated by fans ever since.
