Best Buy to sell RTX 30 Series in-store early Tuesday morning

On Tuesday, July 20, a limited number of Nvidia Geforce RTX 30 Series cards will be available in-store at select Best Buy stores across the United States. If you are looking for the RTX 3080 Ti or other RTX 30 Series cards on Best Buy's site, you may have noticed the "In-Store Sales Only Event" tag on some product listings. This announcement links to a page detailing the early morning opportunity to buy RTX 30 series GPUs.

"Blue Shirts at participating stores will begin handing out tickets at 7:30 local time [Tuesday morning]. Each customer in line will receive one ticket. Those who get a ticket will be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase a graphics card in the store beginning at 8:00 a.m. local time."

Best Buy ran a similar event during the RTX 3080 Ti FE launch, stopping reseller bots from raking in all online orders seconds after the inventory was updated. Most online retailers suffer from the same problem. While inconvenient, hopefully this in-store event will be a sign that GPU availability is increasing for 2021. (Though even if that happens, we have recently heard that high-end cards might get some attention.)

Cities and stores that will stock the RTX 30 series GPUs include:

Depending on where you live, you may need to get a spot in line before Best Buy employees (the company calls them "blue shirts") start assigning tickets at 7:30 AM on Tuesday. You may have to get up very early in the morning to do so. Purchases are limited to one ticket per person. Best Buy does not follow state or local mandates regarding COVID safety protocols. If you plan to look for Tensor Cores in the morning haze, good luck.
