Castlevania" Animation Creator to Adapt "PUBG" to Film

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" doesn't seem like a good fit for an anime adaptation, but it's going to happen anyway, and "Castlevania" producer and showrunner Adi Shankar will be involved in its production, Krafton announced today. announced that Shankar has been tapped to produce and showrun the animated project, with no network or streaming service yet set in stone. [In addition to "Castlevania," Shankar is also working on "Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix" based on "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. His name has also been mentioned in connection with animated adaptations of "Assassin's Creed," "Devil May Cry," and "Hyper Light Drifter."

"As a player, I have been crushing the competition on Battlegrounds since PUBG's release in 2017," Shankar said in a statement.

"I am grateful that Krafton has placed their trust and faith in me to execute my vision as a filmmaker. For me, this animation project is another step in the evolution of repairing the damaged bridges between the gaming industry and Hollywood. I look forward to showing you all what it is like to win a chicken dinner."

Other details are out for now; Krafton CEO CH Kim says, "We look forward to sharing more about this animation project in the near future."

It is not so strange that PUBG is being made into an animated TV series. The Witcher was animated, Legend of Mana was animated, Resident Evil was animated, Tomb Raider was animated, Shenmue was animated, Splinter Cell might be animated, Dragon's Dogma was animated, and Dota" will be animated and ....... Everyone is into anime. And for good reason.
