Something new is brewing at Respawn Entertainment, the "small but ambitious" studio behind games like "Titanfall," "Apex Legends" and "Star Wars Jedi": Fallen Order. Creative Director Mohammad Alavi revealed on Twitter this afternoon that an "all-new single player adventure" is in development, and provided links to job postings for technical designer, combat designer, and level designer ...

The job description itself does not say much about what is available. For example, the listing for the Lead Technical Game Designer states that the new project "is a designer's dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by a unique universe. The project is in its early stages and you will have substantial idea and feature ownership from blue sky conception to game shipment."

Somewhat confusingly, these job postings (all of which can be found on Respawn's Careers page) are categorized under the Single Player Incubation Team category, which is separate from the New Game Incubation Team category. There is some crossover in roles: for example, both projects are looking for a Senior Combat Designer. For example, both projects are looking for a Senior Combat Designer. However, the New Game Incubation Team listing includes specific collaboration and direction requirements, and also calls for using Unreal Engine 4 to "implement character animation, scripting behavior trees, special effects, and system tuning.

Singleplayer is also required to "implement character animation, script behavior trees, special effects, and system tuning using Unreal Engine 4.

The Singleplayer Incubation Team list is more conceptual. Combat is not limited to individual "battles," but includes how one goes into combat, how one initiates combat, how one recovers and regroups, and how one grows through subsequent progression.

"Collaborate with other designers and departments, share ideas, iterate for greatness, scope wisely, and deliver polished gameplay that defies expectations.

At this time, there is no word on whether it will be a single-player Apex Legends game (which would be cool), another Star Wars game (Respawn is already known to be working on a new Star Wars game, which could be a sequel to Star Wars Jedi ), or Titan Wars, it could be anything: or it could be Titanfall 3, which was reportedly in development at one point but was scrapped after the success of Apex Legends.
