Original post Window shopping for a $5,000+ gaming PC can be fun. I myself like to keep the rent paid, the food on the table, and the power on. If you do too, check out this Dell XPS configuration with an Intel Core i5 10400 "Comet Lake" CPU and GeForce RTX 1660 Ti for $699.99 on Black Friday sale.

This is after entering coupon code DBBFDTAFF6, which is like a chainsaw to the system's list price of $1,179.99. I'm not going to pay the full list price because there are better deals on Black Friday gaming PCs, but the price after applying the coupon is about the same as building your own; if you factor in the cost of Windows 10, it's a bit cheaper in parts.

With the introduction of the GeForce RTX 30 series, the 1660 Ti is officially a previous generation part, but these start at $499 and are hard to find in stock now. On the other hand, the 1660 Ti has enough horsepower to play games at 1080p. Depending on the title and visual settings, some games can even get 60 fps at 1440p.

As for the CPU, it is a spirited 6-core, 12-thread chip based on Intel's latest desktop architecture (until Rocket Lake arrives next year), running at 2.9GHz to 4.3GHz.

With this build, you also get 16GB of DDR4-2666 RAM, a 256GB NVMe SSD, and a 1TB HDD (7,200 RPM). Normally, we would recommend choosing a large SSD (512 GB or more), but at least in this case, the hard disk drive on board allows you to offload a large amount of storage. Still, you should consider upgrading at some point, and you can look at the Black Friday SSD deals list for options.
