Tiger Lake is the codename for Intel's 11th generation mobile processors, which use a 10nm manufacturing process. And these new CPUs are the successors to Intel's Ice Lake chips and represent an optimization of Intel's complex process-architecture-optimization model.

While overall performance has improved, the big news is that Tiger Lake is the first product for Intel's Xe graphics architecture. While it can't overpower the RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT in integrated graphics, as seen here, it still represents a big step up in gaming, allowing you to run the latest games at reasonable frame rates. Many games achieve 1080p and 30fps on high settings. Not bad for integrated graphics. [The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, on the other hand, is a flexible machine that can also be used as a tablet if you don't need to use the keyboard. These machines are great for bringing to meetings and making it look like you're the total boss. [Of the two, the Asus VivoBook is the most intriguing because of the Core i7 Tiger Lake CPU and the discrete GPU squeezed into that slick chassis along with the integrated Intel Xe graphics. Frankly, I'm not sure why Asus did this. Because the Nvidia MX350 is, as far as we can tell, about on par with the Intel Xe, slightly better, but not by much. Still, it's a pretty tasty-looking machine, and even at only $20 off the regular price, we think it's a bargain.

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 may be more interesting to those who want a machine that is purely focused on work. Or the type who goes into a meeting with a machine under his arm and jumps out and proves he's the total boss.

Don't get me wrong, it is a thoroughly attractive machine, but it is quite expensive, even with the discount. Still, if you got one of these today, you'll be very happy with it for years to come.
