Swery's The Good Life is registered on Steam and will be released in 2021.

Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, director of "Deadly Premonition" and "D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die," released "The Good Life" in 2017, with a trailer teasing life in "the happiest town in the world." There is also a murder, and the body of a mysterious woman is floating in a lake, with a sword stuck in her torso.

It looked like it was going to be very strange and interesting, but a $1.5 million crowdfunding campaign on Fig failed halfway through, although Swery tried again in 2018 with a Kickstarter campaign (which also had a much lower goal) and was ultimately successful, A story trailer was then released, followed by a year of silence, and the project was postponed to 2020.

We haven't heard much about it since, but today The Irregular Corporation announced that it is partnering with Swery's White Owls Inc. studio to publish The Good Life.

The Good Life is also currently listed on Steam, providing a bit more information about the actual content. You play as Naomi Woods, a New York-based photographer hired to unravel the mysteries hidden in Rainy Woods, an English country town filled with eccentric residents. This is because, due to some not-so-good life choices in the past, you have fallen into a large amount of debt. [Because it's a big change from the city life I'm used to. But it's not all work and no play: you can garden, go to the pub, explore the world as a hairy four-legged creature, maybe even solve a murder.

The Irregular Corporation has a FAQ for The Good Life, which you can read here. It's pretty bare bones at this point, but more information will be added "in the coming months."
