PC Gamer Hardware Awards: What's the best headset of 2020?

Like much of the PC gaming hardware in 2020, the choices for gaming headsets were endless, with big names in the audio field like JBL, Creative, and Audeze beginning to make their own versions of gaming headsets. The nominees for this year's Best Gaming Headsets are all familiar names that make headsets that are comfortable and durable for extended play, with the features that gamers value most.

Of all the headsets we tested throughout the year, it may come as a surprise that the three we chose are all under $200. We did get a few magnetic planar gaming headsets that sounded out of this world, but their lack of gaming features and hefty price tag made them hard to recommend at $400 or more. We also felt the same about the 3D audio, which is a neat feature that doesn't add much to the overall gaming experience other than cost.

Affordable doesn't have to be a bad word if the headset meets all the necessary items. A clear microphone," "wireless and long battery life," and "balanced sound" are just a few of the considerations we took into account when compiling this list.

Check back on New Year's Eve, when we will announce the winner of the Best Gaming Headset of 2020, along with the other winners of the PC Gamer Hardware Awards 2020. In the meantime, you can check back here for the best gaming headsets throughout the year.
