LG to Showcase World's First Convertible, Bendable Gaming Monitor at CES 2021

Curved monitors are becoming more popular, rollable TVs are on the market (albeit expensive), and folding screens are becoming a mobile necessity. Even Intel is reported to be developing a shrinking screen. It is true that the world of displays is evolving in exciting directions, and LG is at the forefront of innovation; LG has now decided to take it a step further by introducing the world's first convertible, bendable monitor.

This 48-inch OLED beast functions as a flat screen, but can be bent in curves of up to 1000R should the need arise. At the touch of a button, LG's new display wraps around the user, forming a more immersive setup and stopping at the user's preferred radius.

With built-in cinematic sound, played from the screen itself, VRR support, and refresh rates of 40-120 Hz, this new gaming monitor is a fair contender for the best gaming monitor of 2021. Immersive gaming will be on your terms.

The bendable bore will be unveiled at this year's virtual CES. So while you won't be able to go push the curved buttons yourself, hopefully you may get a good look at what's actually in motion.

Given the $87,000 price tag of LG's rollable TV, we may not yet expect this fancy new bendable panel technology to make it to the consumer market. But still pretty cool, right? According to [ComputerBase, Samsung plans to ship 13.3-inch to 16-inch OLED screens for new gaming laptops coming out in the next few weeks. Interestingly, this is not just about ultra-high-resolution pro-creator laptops; Samsung will probably start with 1080p 15.6-inch screens for gaming laptops.
