The next major update to Team Fight Tactics will replace 20 champions this month.

Teamfight Tactics is going through a major transformation in a few weeks; the Fates expansion was launched a few months ago, but a mid-set refresh called Festival of Beasts will take place on January 20, with 20 new champions, seven new abilities, new battle paths, and more! Many things will be replaced.

Riot Games details all of these changes in a post today, but the biggest news is a change in the champion roster, with 19 champions leaving in rotation and 20 being added. If you've been playing TFT for a while, you'll recognize the faces of the returning champions, including Aurelion Sol, Sivana, and Braum: Tryndamere and Samira, and as someone who used to main Tryndamere in LoL, I'm very excited and hope he's just as I'm hoping he's a cheat as well.

The Festival of Beasts also adds seven new Traits. Dragonsoul, for example, buffs champions and gives a powerful dragon breath attack if you get enough Dragonsoul champions on your team. But it is the new slayer traits that I am particularly interested in, and not just because Tryndamere has them. As the

post explains, "[Slayers] deal a lot of damage and are powerful while wounded. The lower the slayer's health, the more lifesteal they gain and the more they can recover from their wounds. The lower the slayer's target, the more damage they can inflict and the more wounded targets they can destroy.

In addition to all of this, Festival of Beasts will also introduce a new Battle Pass with cosmetic rewards, a new arena, and a new ranked season with new ranked rewards. It's a lot of fun!

For more information on the detailed changes, please see this Riot blog post. Teamfight Tactics' "Festival of the Beasts" will begin on January 20.
