The "Slay the Spire" board game is now available.

Mega Crit's Slay the Spire is a PC Gamer favorite, a solo deck-building rogue-like game. It scored 92% in our review, won the Best Design of 2019 award, and has benefited from an avid modding scene since its release. Now, perhaps the ultimate modification is about to be made to what is essentially already a card game.

Board game specialist Contention Games announced today that it is working on the "Slay the Spire" project, scheduled to launch on Kickstarter in spring 2021. The game, of which only minimal details have been released, will support one to four players and will have a game time of 45 minutes per player. The game description reads: "Slay the Spire is a cooperative deck-building adventure. Build unique decks, encounter strange creatures, discover relics of immense power, and become strong enough to finally topple the Spire!"

.

The box mock-up uses old key art, and unfortunately there is nothing more to say about it; Contention's previous project was a 4X card game called Imperium: it is for 2-6 players, but the deluxe version supports solo play. I'm most interested in the "Slay the Spire" board game because of how good the single player deck-building experience is. You can get notified when the kickstarter for this game launches here.
