The Sims 4 x MAC Cosmetics Collaboration Palette Removed [Updated

Update: MAC Cosmetics has removed the palette from its store following backlash; MAC confirmed to Nylon that the palette is an older release, saying, "Given the wide and diverse community of Sims fans, we wanted the shades and textures of the collection to appeal to everyone, whether they are makeup We wanted it to appeal to everyone, whether they are a beginner or a master of the art.

To that end, we went back to the vaults and selected a palette of universal fan favorites with some of our best-selling shades.

This versatile and special Deco Collector's item is just one aspect of the SIMS x M-A-C collaboration that creates a fun and interactive experience for fans. Fans and artists can bring in other M-A-C products to create an exciting take on the SIMS aesthetic, resulting in bold looks that are not influenced by trends."

Original Article MAC Cosmetics is no stranger to questionable collaborations between EA and The Sims; in June 2020, The Sims 4 released a base game update that included a makeup collection from MAC that was pretty badass. Between the bizarre color swatches and the style of eyeliner that The Sims likened to sperm, the collaboration was an all-out disaster.

And now MAC has once again incurred the wrath of Sims fans with the limited edition "MAC featuring The Sims" palette. This palette looks nothing like "The Sims" except for the name and the blue cardboard sleeve containing the palette. There are no shade names associated with The Sims, and the neutral color scheme bears no resemblance to any of the game's iconic motifs.

The collaboration turns out to be a rebranding of MAC's Solar Glow Times Nine palette, which was released in 2017 with new packaging. This news did not sit well with Simmers, who called it a "sad prank." To make matters worse, the product page for the palette states that it is a "curated collection" inspired by the recent skin tone update to The Sims. The skin tones in "The Sims" have long been criticized by players for their lack of diversity and poor representation of people of color.

Both Sims and makeup influencers have condemned the shoddy collaboration between MAC and EA. Sims Youtuber Deligracy called the palette "sad" and warned EA to "be cautious with these kinds of marketing decisions." Beauty guru James Welsh also tweeted about the palette, asking, "Was this all they could come up with!"

and asked, "What is it?

The Sims has a number of iconic items and figures that may have influenced this palette. The red Bella Goth, the green Plum Bob, and the deep orange Eliza Pancake-inspired color palette could all have been included in the palette. It is a shame that creativity is so important in this game and yet it is missing in this collaboration, MAC, I am waiting for the bright yellow grilled cheese-inspired shades.
