Leaked information suggests Nvidia RTX 3060 Ultra is on the way

Nvidia's lineup of Ampere graphics cards may include the RTX 3060 Ultra, a pumped-up version of the RTX 3060 Ti.

The leaked custom ASUS TUF Gaming GPU (via wccfech) appears to have a more powerful memory capacity than the RTX 3080 with 12GB of GDDR6 memory. The memory bus is 192 bits (down from 256 bits), so accessing the memory may take a little longer. However, there is no need to worry about this affecting the game. The difference will be negligible in the speed that will probably be displayed.

This mid-low range card uses the same 8nm process node as the rest of the 30-series lineup, but with fewer CUDA cores than its Ti counterpart (3840 cores vs. 4864 for the RTX 3060 Ti). 2.7 slot, 0dB cooling technology. triple-fan design, and a sturdy aluminum chassis.

As an Ultra tier variant, this card is set to outperform the RTX 3060 Ti despite having fewer cores than the RTX 3060 Ti. It may also compete with AMD's Radeon RX 6700.

Expect the GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra to be announced at a virtual CES and during Nvidia's January 12 keynote broadcast. Said to be coming in at an affordable $449, these new cards could be the missing piece that some of us have been waiting for.
