Job postings indicate that inXile's next game will be a first-person shooter RPG.

Last year, inXile Entertainment released Wasteland 3, the latest in its turn-based isometric RPG series, and it was quite a success. The studio is currently working on a "great new RPG," as CEO Brian Fargo puts it, and has stated that "a second RPG is in the early stages of pre-production." [A job posting uncovered by Twisted Voxel suggests what at least one of those RPGs will be. The lead gameplay engineer position states that the new hire will work on "the studio's next generation action role-playing game" and will have "first-person shooter gameplay capabilities." The Senior Gameplay Designer role calls for someone who "understands the moment-to-moment gameplay loop of first-person shooters and RPGs" and mentions "powerful, tactile first-person weapons and unique combat capabilities."

If you are expecting this to be Wasteland 4 (or New Vegas 2), there is also an opening for an art director to work on a "next generation role-playing game," which would be "a rare opportunity to help bring an extraordinary new world to life" and would be "a unique opportunity to help bring an existing game suggesting that it is not a direct sequel.

inXile has two studios in Tustin and New Orleans, California (the California studio produced "The Bard's Tale 4" while the California studio produced "The Mage's Tale," a first-person VR game), but these details All of this is from job postings in California. The two job postings in New Orleans describe similar requirements, and the job description for the Senior Writing Artist in both locations is the same. In other words, all of the above details appear to refer to a single RPG with first-person action and gunplay.

Last month, inXile released a multiplayer shooter called Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds through Japanese publisher Thirdverse.
