Call of Duty: Black Ops" nuclear war breaks out in next week's mid-season update.

Next week's Call Of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War mid-season update will add a 6-on-6 multiplayer mode and a dash of thermonuclear conflict.

The first mid-season update for Cold War, which will be available next Thursday, January 14, was released along with the patch notes for yesterday's Call Of Duty patch (infamous for not sufficiently enhancing Warzone's DMR). The update added some clever twists to existing multiplayer modes, and next week Treyarch will introduce a new Dropkick mode.

Described as a "battle over nuclear missile codes," Dropkick's details may actually have been leaked back in November. As the leaked loading screen shows, Dropkick pits two teams battling over control of the launch codes and the objective of detonating a nuclear bomb.

Fireteam also added a sunny new map Sanatorium (pictured above), and Zombies will be all Jason Statham with the new variant Cranked. In this map, every time you kill a shambler, you gain precious seconds, and when the timer reaches zero, you die; Cold War's PlayStation-exclusive onslaught mode will also add a new map, Raid; look forward to playing it on PC in 11 months, and be sure to check out the new map in the next few weeks, when it will be available for download on the PlayStation Store.
