NZXT has revised its H1 Mini-ITX PC case chassis, which closely resembles an Xbox Series X console, to make it less of a fire hazard. As a result, it is now back on sale in the online store.

At $350, this case is not cheap. But it is not just a case; it also comes with a fully modular 650W SFX power supply unit with 80 Plus Gold certification and an all-in-one liquid cooler with a 140mm radiator. In other words, it is more than just a case, it is a starter kit.

As NZXT pointed out on Twitter, this is actually a great case too, now that the fire hazard has been addressed.

Prior to the revision upgrade, the unit was affected by a faulty design regarding how the graphics card was mounted. Due to its rectangular shape, the graphics card was installed vertically in the chassis, with the PCIe riser cable connected to the motherboard. As it turns out, the PCIe riser assembly was the source of the problem. More precisely, the screws for the riser cable were the problem.

"The two screws attaching the PCIe riser assembly to the chassis can cause an electrical short on the printed circuit board, which can overheat and pose a fire hazard. While this issue affects a small portion of the case, we have safeguards in place and are developing an easy-to-use repair kit that can be installed without shipping the case anywhere," NZXT explained last month.

This is a fairly simple fix that basically uses different screws; NZXT has resumed selling the cases on its website, presumably using the same new screws that make up the repair kit; retailers like Amazon and Newegg will eventually plan to resume selling the cases, but the exact timing is unknown.

The same goes for NZXT's pre-assembled BLD PCs; versions with the H1 chassis have also reopened, with prices starting at $1,799.
