Viewsonic Introduces 144Hz 4K and 240Hz QHD Gaming Monitors

Viewsonic announced a new line of high refresh gaming panels for 2021 at CES, highlighted by a pair of 32" 4K models with 144Hz refresh rates and a 27" 1440p panel running at 240Hz.

First up is the Viewsonic Elite XG320U, a model we have mentioned before but which has taken some time to actually become available. However, it is the most attractive model of them all and well worth the long wait.

It is 32 inches, has a 4K IPS panel running at 144 Hz, and offers DisplayHDR 600 certification. The latter is a relatively low level of HDR support, suggesting that the XG320U could be relatively affordable. It also supports HDMI 2.1, which allows for high refresh larks on both PCs and consoles.

A sister model in the new series is the ViewSonic Elite XG321UG. This is another 32-inch 4K IPS model that operates at 144 Hz, but this time with DisplayHDR 1000 certification and a peak brightness of 1400 cd/m2.

This crazy brightness is achieved by a 1,152-zone mini LED backlight, so the XG321UG promises to be quite an eye-popper. The price will also be astounding.

Oddly, the XG321UG does not support HDMI 2.1, suggesting that this model is primarily targeted at PCs rather than console gamers.

Fans of even higher refresh rates will appreciate the new Viewsonic Elite XG271QG. This is a 27-inch QHD monitor with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a 240 Hz refresh rate. It also comes with Nvidia G-Sync support, including Nvidia Reflex Analyser. This is a new feature from Nvidia that allows gamers to accurately measure screen latency and tweak their rigs for fast response.

It also works with the new Nvidia Reflex SDK designed to help game developers reduce latency. such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, Valorant, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Developers of titles such as "Apex Legends," "Fortnite," "Valorant," and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" are using the Nvidia Reflex SDK to minimize latency. Alan Dexter (Alan Dexter) recently had hands-on experience with the technology and said it can help assist low-end graphics cards with latency issues.

Pricing for these new models has unfortunately not yet been revealed. However, we expect the XG320U in particular to be relatively affordable, around $500-600 (£500-600), as 4K gaming makes more sense on a large 32" panel rather than a 27" panel. high refresh thrill will also be more attractive and affordable than before.

As for availability, Viewsonic has stated that all three will be available this summer.
