Harry Potter RPG "Hogwarts Legacy" delayed until 2022.

The release of "Hogwarts Legacy," an RPG about attending school in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, has been delayed. The game was supposed to be released this year, but publisher Warner Bros. Interactive announced today that it will not actually come out until 2022.

"We are giving the game the time it needs because it is most important to us to provide the best possible experience for the Wizarding World and our gaming fans," WB Avalanche said. The Hogwarts Legacy is slated for release in 2022."

No specific reason for the delay has been given, but it is interesting to note that the game was announced much earlier, in September 2020, i.e., just four months before.

Warner and developer Avalanche have not revealed much yet, except that the game is an "immersive, open-world action RPG" with an entirely new story based on the Harry Potter novels. Harry Potter author JK Rowling is not involved in the project.

"Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that is tearing the wizarding world apart. After belatedly receiving your acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you soon realize that you are no ordinary student. Only you can decide whether to keep this secret for everyone or succumb to the temptation of more sinister magic." [A PC storefront for The Hogwarts Legacy has not yet been announced.
