EA continues to produce "Star Wars" games.

The reinstatement of the Lucasfilm Games brand as the "official identity for all Lucasfilm game titles" raised a few questions for us. This agreement expires in 2023, but it's hard to miss that there was no mention of EA in this announcement.

EA's Star Wars status was somewhat clarified today, ironically, in the news that Ubisoft is working on a new open-world Star Wars game. While the era of exclusivity is clearly over, Lucasfilm Games Vice President Douglas Riley told starwars.com that Electronic Arts will also continue to make Star Wars games.

"We're really proud of the games we've created with EA," Riley said. 'We will continue to work with EA and our relationship has never been stronger. I may not be able to give you more details right now, but we have many projects in the works with EA's talented team."

Hours after Ubisoft's announcement, EA also reaffirmed its partnership with the series and Lucasfilm:

Between cancelled games, closed studios, and the loot box debacle, EA's Star Wars decade has not gone as well as expected. It didn't. However, the success of Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Jedi: Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Star Wars: Squadrons. Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said in June 2020 that the company plans to "double down" on its "Star Wars" partnership going forward, adding that "Disney remains very, very committed to the IP."
