Bungie Details Stasis Shatterdive Nerf in Next Destiny 2 Update; Season 13 Rewards Revamped

In the first "This Week at Bungie" update of 2021, the "Destiny 2" studio will be discussing the updates coming to Crucible and Gambit Rewards, the reprinting of Dreaming City and Moon gear, and the biggest highlight, the Hunter's "Shatter Dive" He explained the nerfing of abilities.

"The trial went live over the New Year's vacation and we received a lot of valuable feedback from the community. Along with this feedback, we tracked the data from the trial and identified some short-term changes, as well as some more medium-term goals that we will be focusing on in the coming weeks and months."

In the short term, Bungie wants to "address the outlier Stasis ability to keep subclass decision making interesting," which translates to:

Shatter Dive + Whisper of Fissures power against Guardians against the Guardian.

Whisper of Fissures

These sound like substantial changes, and they should be: Shatterdive is a combo of throwing a Glacier Grenade and immediately dunking it, creating a ridiculously powerful explosion, but in PVP proved to be too powerful and cheap.

And don't worry, it's not just hunters who are exposed to the hammer.

We will investigate the effectiveness of the Stasis Titan Behemoth Super; we want to calm the above changes to see where the behemoth stands in the PVP hierarchy.

The long-term goal is to improve the balance between gunplay and power: Bungie has stated that power usage is going up "as we introduce more and more ways to charge quickly," especially in 3vs3 playlists, and that they want to make adjustments to keep guns viable and rewarding. He stated that he wants to make adjustments to keep the guns viable and challenging.

Speaking of guns (and armor), here is the list of rewards that will be seen in Season 13:

The reissued Dreaming City Reverie Dawn and Moon Dreambane armor.

Frankly, it's a bit of a shame that the masterworked Dreambane armor is being removed; I think that's why Bungie discontinued it; it's a bit of a shame, because it's a great piece of armor, and it's a great way to get rid of the masterworked Dreambane armor.

The four Dreaming City weapons have been reprinted with new Perk Pools.

Reprinted 4 weapons for Moon with new Perk Pools.

Expanded the Lost Sector Legend and Master Rotation to four Moon Sectors.

"Activities where reissues are earned will be weighted more heavily to reward reissued gear than capped gear--although the exact weights and mechanisms may vary," said Justin Dazet, Rewards Area Lead. Justin Dazet, Rewards Area Lead, said, "For example: however, the exact weights and mechanics may be different."

Season 13 will also change the reward structure for Gambit and Crucible, adding two new unique weapons to each of the three playlist rituals (six total) and adding visible reward ranks to ritual vendors. Ranked rewards will not drop automatically, but will be picked up manually from the vendor's list, which Bungie says "will make it easier to see the rewards you can earn as you progress, and allow you to better choose where to spend your time."

Rituals will be ranked individually, so that a Crucible rank of 10, for example, can become Gambit rank 4 and continue to earn basic ritual engrams as they rank up. The rewards for individual ritual ranks are as follows:

Also, this change means that Crucible tokens and token gifts will no longer be used and will become junk: they must be returned before the end of the season.

According to Bungie, there will be a total of four This Week at Bungie updates for the next season of Destiny 2. The start date for Season 13 has not yet been announced, but assuming a normal weekly schedule, it will be sometime during the week of February 4-7.
