Valve rarely announces Steam sale dates in advance, but for thrifty video game buyers, this is not a particular problem, as dates are regularly leaked well in advance. I vaguely remember it used to be a pretty big deal: dates would leak out from the darkest shadows of the Internet, and we'd all gather to discuss the likelihood of their accuracy, what we might buy, and whose heads would roll when the identity of the leaker was revealed.

These days, thanks to Steam sales and the proliferation of other online stores, it's not so dramatic, not to mention Valve's indifference.

So here's the thing: according to the Steam database, the Steam Chinese New Year Sale 2021 will run from February 11 to February 15.

While Steam's Lunar New Year event is not a long, big sale like the Winter Sale or Summer Sale, there are deals to be had and Lunar New Year items are sure to be available in the points store. Last year's sale featured a night market, where visitors could exchange points earned for profile backgrounds, chat room effects, chat stickers, and more.

Of course, this is all unofficial and untested, but it is probably no coincidence that Chinese New Year 2021 begins on February 12.
