New "PUBG" universe to be released "by next year" on PC and consoles.

The PUBG universe will be expanded next year with the survival horror game The Callisto Protocol, but in the meantime, another PUBG game is coming to PC and consoles this year; according to Bloomberg, a new "PUBG-related" game will ship "by next year" and a mobile Another battle royale for mobile will appear in 2021, according to Bloomberg.

The news was announced as part of a profile of Kim Chang-han, CEO of Krafton Inc. Krafton Inc is a South Korea-based holding company that includes Bluehole, PUBG Corp, and Striking Distance. The latter is the studio led by Glenn Scofield, the creator of The Callisto Protocol. Later this year, Crafton plans an initial public offering, reportedly worth as much as $27.2 billion.

In any case, it appears that Krafton intends to capitalize on PUBG, which accounts for the bulk of its revenue. Bloomberg's report also confirms that in addition to webcomics, animation production is underway, and that there are potential related acquisitions.

As of last July, PUBG had sold 70 million copies on PC and consoles, and downloads of the mobile version had jumped to 600 million - this figure was 400 million in June 2019.

Season 10 of PUBG is currently underway, but the rumored "tournament-style" autobattler mode, called Vostok, has yet to appear anywhere. Perhaps it will stand on its own as a stand-alone game?
