Team Ninja has "no plans" for "Nioh 3" at this time.

Fumihiko Yasuda, franchise director of Team Ninja's "Nioh" series, has been interviewed in conjunction with the release of "Nioh 2: The Complete Edition" on PC next month. What these interviews reveal is that the studio has no plans to make it a trilogy - at least, not at this time.

Yasuda told TheGamer that "Team Ninja wants to focus on new titles, so there are no plans for "Nioh 3" at this time." Nevertheless, he is open to hearing more about "Nioh. He said, "But after I create some new projects and gain new experience and skills from the possibilities of these new projects, I would eventually like to return to this series." [Yasuda told the Video Games Chronicle that the sequel would not be limited to the Sengoku period, explaining that the expansion to "Nioh 2," "The First Samurai," already depicts the Heian period. Yasuda added, "It is definitely possible to have a sequel to the 'Nioh' series in a different era, or even in a completely different setting."

Our own Wes Fenlon also recently spoke with Yasuda and asked him if the fact that "Nioh 2" is being ported to PC means that "Ninja Gaiden Black" will one day be released on PC. Here is his answer: "We would definitely consider it in the future. I am always looking for opportunities to revive the NINJA GAIDEN series."

Fingers crossed, Nioh 2: The Complete Edition will be available on Steam starting February 5. Click here for impressions of the port.
