MSI RTX 3060 Ti Graphics Card Now Available for Crypto Miners

MSI is reportedly preparing an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti board specifically designed for cryptocurrency miners.

According to Videocardz, the new EEC listings include entries for two new MSI cards based on the RTX 3060 Ti chipset, with noticeable mining-centric branding. The boards in question are the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Miner 8G and the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Miner 8G OC.

Several graphics card manufacturers have produced mining-specific boards in the past. Typically, such cards avoid features and bells and whistles unrelated to mining operations, such as RGB lighting, decorative styling, and video output.

As for the choice of RTX 3060 Ti chipset, it makes sense for the cost required for mining: the RTX 3060 Ti is based on a GA104 GPU; in contrast, the RTX 3060 has a GA106 chip.

Given the dramatically higher prices of other products in the RTX 30 series, such as the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, the RTX 3060 Ti may provide the highest return on investment with respect to cryptocurrency mining.

Given the widespread assumption that miners are buying up Nvidia RTX 30 series cards in droves anyway, giving them one or two official SKUs would hardly be a problem. But as a gamer in an era of chronic graphics card shortages and crazy pricing, any GPU that disappears into a mining rig hurts. And it is quite depressing to see a possible problem identified with MSI's official mining boards.
