Vallorant's worst maps have been significantly reworked.

Ah, "The Split," the name of Valorant's worst map, and a description of what I'd like to do when I have to play it. This high-rise hellscape is the subject of Valorant's new 2.1 patch, and Riot aims to make this map easier to conquer overall. After seeing the map reworked with your own eyes, you may not have to hate Split anymore.

Riot explains the biggest changes to Split in an official blog post. As a theme, Riot is trying to eliminate some "50/50" angles (corners with nooks on either side for defenders to watch) from the map, allowing attackers to move more safely. How are they trying to accomplish that?

Most of the changes are centered around site B, which has been difficult for attackers to penetrate (especially when heading through the garage). The nook to the left of the garage has been made shallower, making it easier for attackers to clear without exposing themselves to the Haven. Also, several deep nooks in the narrow passage between the defense spawn and B have been made shallower, so defenders are no longer safe to hide there.

I must also mention the metal rope room at the top of Mid. The new diagonal wedge swallows the left corner of the doorway (against the attackers), making it less powerful as an anchor spot for the defenders and generally easier to clear. On the flip side, the wedge also makes that part of the wall bulletproof, so keep that in mind.

In other wedge news, A Haven has also been wedged, but this time (mostly) in favor of the defender. The increased space should give the defenders more room without making them vulnerable to the A-ramp. It should also be noted that it will be more important to keep the A haven for the A push.

This is the biggest change, but you can see more changes in the blog post along with Jett's nerf to Cloudburst smoke grenades Riot is continually trying to lower the power level of duelists and this is the next step. If you want to see the new Split for yourself, patch 2.1 is already out and ready to play.
