Team17 has acquired the rights and assets of Golf With Your Friends for £12 million ($16.4 million): with this news, Team17 announced that it "wants to create additional opportunities to extend the life cycle of existing games" (GamesIndustry , thanks)

Golf With Your Friends has been in early access on PC since 2016, but its popularity was revived last year when it was released on numerous platforms. The game is developed by Brisbane-based Blacklight Interactive, and Team17 helped publish the various releases last year.

In its announcement, Team17 said that Golf With Your Friends has doubled its player base in the past two years and "has been successful across multiple gaming platforms," and the studio sees "great potential" in the game's future.

"GWYF is the type of IP we believe we are well suited to own, it is successful and proven, but it is still at the beginning of its journey, and the team at Blacklight Interactive can assure you we will treat this great IP with care."
