Save Transfer Site for "Hitman 3" Bows to Pressure

A website for veteran hitmen to transfer their "Hitman 2" play to "Hitman 3" is struggling to keep up with demand, according to developer IO Interactive.

A key feature of this final installment in the Hitman trilogy is that player progression from the first two games will carry over; users who have played "Hitman 1" and "Hitman 2" on Steam can also carry over their Agent 47 to the Epic version of "Hitman 3" Hitman 3" to the Epic version of "Hitman 3. However, the site built to manage this one-time transfer is experiencing significant problems due to the high demand involved.

Players report that they frequently receive "failed" or "error" status notifications when trying to transfer their progress. Also, people who skipped creating an IO account last time are now having trouble signing up.

IO explained on Twitter that the site simply cannot handle the thousands of players trying to take over their saves.

In addition to handling progressions from Steam to Epic, the site also has to manage the carry over of saves for console players who are moving between the two games across previous and current generation hardware. IO continues to work on fixing the transfer issue but the problem still appears to be quite extensive.

Not surprisingly, this also means that many people have yet to set foot in Hitman 3. Since transferring old save data will overwrite existing Hitman 3 data, IO recommends transferring it before launching. At the moment the developers do not have a timeframe for when this issue will be resolved, but let's hope it is resolved soon. Andy K. praised the last part of World Of Assassination in his "Hitman 3" review, calling it "IO's most creative and surprising assassination sim to date."
