Take-Two Interactive Closes "GTA Online" Cheat Site, Forces Charity to Donate Proceeds

There are only three certainties in life: death, taxes, and GTA Online cheats, and some GTA Online cheaters use their powers for good, creating goofy vehicles and generally causing mild chaos on the server. But things like infinite money cheats, invincibility, and general griefing have plagued GTA Online PC servers for years.

Fighting these things may seem like a canut against the waves, but Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has announced that its popular cheat service LunaCheats (thanks, Dexerto.) This site has been completely shut down The site has been shut down completely, leaving only the following statement: "After discussions with Take-Two Interactive, we are discontinuing the maintenance, development, and distribution of the cheat menu service effective immediately.

"We will also be donating proceeds to charities designated by Take-Two. We apologize for any problems our software has caused the Grand Theft Auto Online community."

This statement is the same as the cheat menu service Elusive, which was removed two years ago. Both services promised to donate their proceeds to charity, but LunaCheats may not yet be completely exonerated, as the creator of Elusive was also eventually fined a hefty $150,000.

While the crackdown may not completely eliminate cheats and mods from GTA Online, it may reduce some of the griefing in Los Santos, and the tail-wagging statements and charitable donations that Take-Two is forcing on the cheaters are quite amusing. They're all gangstas until their lawyers show up.
