Cooler Master's New Convertible Test Bench is the Ultimate PC Flex

Behold, the Cooler Masterframe 700, and as a test bench geek, I must say that the Masterframe's stylish, open design appeals to my benchmarking sensibilities. Not only that, but you can turn it on its side, stick the glass on, and it becomes a case. A very beautiful case. [The Masterframe 700, first introduced as part of Cooler Master's 2021 showcase, is a hinged design that goes from a vertically mounted screen-style PC case to a horizontally raised bench, the latter being more open-air test bench Suitable for.

Support for all common motherboard sizes up to E-ATX and GPU support is equally generous, with little surrounding the card to take up valuable space. The only limiting factor is the pump/reservoir on the right side of the card, but even that should leave plenty of room for the largest mainstream cards currently available.

Twin "wings" support radiators up to 360mm. If you prefer quieter operation with a larger 140mm fan, a 280mm radiator will suffice. From the looks of it, the radiator mount on the far right may be a bit too much for the all-in-one liquid cooler's tubes to cross. But either way, there is no lack of cooling. At the very top, there is also a radiator bracket that supports up to 420mm units.

Cooler Master envisions fairly extensive custom water cooling support for the Masterframe 700. However, soft tubing is a must, otherwise you'll be in for a rude awakening.

The PSU is housed in the back of the case and is not visible in either portrait or landscape orientation.

Overall, the Masterframe 700 is functional and aesthetically pleasing. As a test bench, this would not be a very common combination. However, as is the case with test benches, once the cables are cluttered up, the style goes out of style.

According to Cooler Master, the Masterframe 700 will be available this month for about $169.

Also worth spotlighting are several other products announced at the Cooler Master Showcase.

We won't cover many of them here, but some highlights include: the MasterBox 540 tempered glass case for RGB fans (pun very much intended), the Pi Case 40 for matching a Raspberry Pi to a PC, the MasterCase EGG 40 with built-in laptop clip MasterCase EG200 with built-in laptop clip, and the ARGB GPU Support Bracket, a smart support for PCIe ports to reduce weight.
