This 2TB SSD costs $163 and is a great place to store games.

Even though solid state drives are much cheaper than they used to be, many people are still sticking with traditional hard drives to store their Steam libraries as the size of major games continues to grow. Thankfully, there are occasional promotions that bring SATA SSDs to even lower prices; Newegg is currently selling a Mushkin Enhanced 2TB SSD for $162.99, $11 less than the previous price.

This drive supports 2TB of storage capacity, 3D TLC flash memory, TRIM and S.M.A.R.T drive protection. However, it is not as fast as many other SATA drives (especially NVMe SSDs) because it does not have a DRAM cache. Still, sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/sec and sequential write speeds of up to 505 MB/sec are significantly faster than spinning hard drives.

The lower speeds make this SSD ideal as a secondary drive for storing games and other non-system files.

Game load times are faster than with spinning hard disks, and there are no moving parts that can break, adding to the reliability that comes with all SSDs.
