Ninja Theory's 4vs4 hero game, "Bleeding Edge," no upcoming content updates

Ninja Theory's 4vs4 fighting game "Bleeding Edge" was released last March to mostly positive reviews. At the time of its release, Morgan wrote, "The characters are cool, but the combat is too shallow to watch for long." Despite several content updates between then and now, including a cool dolphin-powered mech, the game has yet to gain the audience it needs to succeed as a live service game.

And today, the announcement that "Bleeding Edge" is no longer in active development confirms this. The game is still playable and can be purchased on Xbox Game Pass for PC, but no new characters or maps are expected in the future.

"Due to the studio's current focus on new projects (Senua's Saga, Project Mara, The Insight Project), we have decided not to do further content updates for Bleeding Edge," the tweet reads. The game is now playable on Xbox and PC." Thank you to all of our fans.

The last substantial content update Bleeding Edge received was last July, when the melee support fighter Azrael was added to the hero roster. He was introduced along with a new map called Facility 665. [For Ninja Theory, best known for "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" and 2013's "Devil May Cry," the online multiplayer browser game was a bit out of character. The games Ninja Theory is currently developing are clearly better suited: "Senua's Saga" is a sequel to "Hellblade," "Project: Senua's Saga" is a sequel to "Hellblade," and "Project: Mara" takes place exclusively inside a photorealistic apartment It is a psycho-horror.

As for The Insight Project, although it is billed as "an ambitious combination of technology, game design, and clinical neuroscience," we have yet to see the project in action.
