Just months after a young, modern edition of Runescape hit Valve's shores, Jagex announced this week that a nostalgic 2007-era client will be available on Steam on February 24 as part of the game's 20th anniversary celebration.

According to Steam's announcement post, you can resume where you left off, whether it was last week or 10 years ago, by linking your existing OSRS account; those new to Runescape will be able to log in directly with their Steam account. OSRS will also begin introducing achievements and trading cards, a Steam tradition.

Despite its mention as a time capsule of Runescape circa 2007, OSRS is not a dead game. It just broke the record for the number of simultaneous players last November. The game adds new items, monsters, features, and occasionally new lands, and uses a subscriber voting system to ensure that new updates keep the spirit of the old game alive. [This week, Runescape's developer, Jagex, was acquired by the Carlyle Group, the world's second largest private equity firm.
