Developers of bio-mutants have long been silent.

"Bio Mutants" was announced in 2017 and was supposed to be released in 2019, but nothing really happened. However, there was still no sign of a release date until the studio finally promised a May release earlier this week.

The long-term silence was a bit odd, but studio boss Stefan Ljungqvist told IGN there was a reason for it: there were a lot of bugs that needed to be fixed, and the studio was determined to avoid a punk while it did it.

"It was an enormous task for QA, because it's not easy to find [bugs] in an open-world game. Because it's not easy to find (bugs) in an open-world game."

Ljungqvist, who was creative director at Avalanche Studios before founding Experiment 101, said he was "burned out" from his past experiences in the game industry, but also more aware of the negative effects of constant overwork. He said, "I mean, the studio is 20 people," he said. I mean, the studio is 20 people and we can't have [staff] leave the studio or go under during development. That would be a devastating blow.

"We might do it in a limited way for certain pushes. But the most important thing is that we get paid. Plus, you need rest, so there's 'recap time'; if you're doing it incessantly for 12 to 14 hours a day, eventually you're going to have to pay for it."

He commended publisher THQ Nordic for not pushing the studio to accelerate the release date, and acknowledged that team members may have to work more hours to support the game after release, but that being crunchy in the studio 'It's not incessant,' he said.

"It will kill you.

Interestingly, Ljungqvist also stressed that the long delay was not because Experiment 101 was working on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Bio Mutants. When we developed this game," he said, "we were leading the last generation, because we wanted to make sure that we had the best possible experience for the game. This is because it is easier to scale up than to scale down.

Besides, he added, "The high-end version of 'Biomutant' is already being made for the PC." The game already exists in the form that would be expected on the current generation of platforms."

Biomutant is scheduled for release on May 25.
