Bad news for those who didn't get For the King and Metro: Last Light Redux for free from the Epic Games store by this afternoon. The good news, however, is that there is another free item you can get instead.

The game takes place on an abandoned space station left behind by a mysterious precursor race found at the edge of the known universe. Mysterious aliens are rushing toward Earth, presumably with unfriendly intentions. Your job is to reclaim and rebuild the station, research new technologies, forge new alliances, and find ways to stop the invasion. The Lightspeed version features significant adjustments to gameplay, including improved combat, significant changes to the UI, and a "streamlined" campaign that dramatically speeds up the pace of progress.

Next week, a slightly bigger name goes on the block: Rage 2 is id Software's pink apocalypse FPS, which we described after its 2019 release as "an extraordinary shooter cursed with a boring world." Also joining the mix is Absolute Drift, a minimalist top-down racing sim from Funselektor Labs, makers of Art of Rally.
