Ubisoft Surprises "The Division 2" Players, Confirms New Content Coming Later This Year

Earlier this week, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that Massive Studios will continue to work on another open-world shooter, The Division series, even though a new open-world "Star Wars" game is in development. Massive Studios is a large studio and works with many studios around the world." You will see more about "The Division" this year and the year after.

Today, the studio officially promised that commitment, saying in a Twitter message that the recently released "The Division 2" title update 12 was to be the last major update for the game, but "thanks to your continued support, in late 2021 We are now in the early stages of developing fresh content for release."

"It is still too early to discuss details today, but we will provide them as soon as we can so you won't have to wait too long. In the meantime, we would like to thank you once again for your continued support since the launch of The Division 2. We cannot stress enough how much this means to us."

Title Update 12 took place in December and launched the fourth season of Division 2. This season brings back Faye Lau, an NPC from "The Division" who became a member of Black Tusk in "The Division 2." I haven't played it myself, but reading the Wiki, it seems like a good way to "close the loop"-like, in other words, wrap things up.

The "Division 2" team may not reveal details of the new content just yet, but Gilmo's statement that there will be more to come "this year and the next" suggests that it's not a simple one-way street.

The studio also said that it is currently investigating what looks like a fairly serious crash bug and is close to fixing the volumetric fog and screen space reflections that are missing from PlayStation 5.
