Team Killer Hurts Itself in New "Call of Duty" Update

New updates to "Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War" and "Call of Duty: Warzone" have brought changes to league play: friendly fire damage will now hurt attackers after a second team kill, and team killers will now be friendly fire damage will now hurt the attacker after the second team kill attempt, and team killers will be kicked after two more team kill attempts. Friendly Fire is now converted to ricochet damage after the second team kill, and damage is returned to the attacker. Players will then be kicked if they attempt two more team kills." The update has been quite well received by Call of Duty League players on social media.

A similar system has been used to good effect in Rainbow Six Siege, which was implemented in 2019. Occasional false positives are found, but they will probably do more harm than good. Griefing is not as common in competitive ladders as in open matches, but it can be brutal when someone decides to cheat.

The full patch also includes several bug fixes for multiplayer and zombie modes, mostly related to positioning and UI bugs. The full "Call of Duty" February 13, 2021 patch notes can be read on Treyarch's website.
