General
Spiritfarer has three major free updates.

The beloved, heartbreaking, and undeniably cute life simulator slash-challon sim "Spiritfarer" is getting three major free updates this year. Each update will add new characters with their own stories, improved quality of life, new buildings, and new recipes and resources.

The spring update is called "Lily" and will feature a new genie: Lily, Stella's sister, in the form of a swarm of glowing butterflies. The quality of the co-op system will also be upgraded.

The summer update is called "Beverly" and features a new spirit that Stella knew before she died and wants to take a walk down memory lane. It will also include a special room with an overhead projector and collectibles called "Acetate Sheets."

The last update is called "Jackie & Dahlia" and features an entirely new island with a rundown hospital. There is a caretaker, a patient, a flower hyena and a bat, each with their own problems to solve. This update will also include new ship buildings and resources, but the developers have not revealed them at this time.

Spiritfarer is a good game, mixing sadness and joy in one package. Not many games about death and the afterlife can list the best huggers. I gave it an 85 in my review, and I personally felt it was one of the strongest games of 2020. Rachel Watts, in her review of Spiritfarer, said, "Thunder Lotus has succeeded in creating a cozy boat sim that handles the themes of death and mercy in a masterful balance."

You can read all about Spiritfarer's 2021 update plans on the Thunder Lotus Games website. As a side note, I continue to be amazed at the roadmap even for games that appear to be completed and released.
