Imperatore Roma's 2.0 overhaul makes significant changes to UI and battlefield conditions

The ancient grand strategy game Imperator: Rome's 2.0 update, released on February 16, brings an overhaul of the game's user interface and military systems. The new Legion and Levy system replaces standing armies with levies assembled for warfare and requires technology to innovate on the idea of standing armies, which have come to be known as legions.

The update also brought powerful changes to character interactions, allowing them to assess the number of their troops and treasury through espionage against foreign powers. These statistics are hidden by default, unlike in other Paradox grand strategy games. The user interface overhaul has been completed, with a completely new UI with a new visual style. It also now supports nested tooltips, as in Crusader Kings 3.

This 2.0 update coincided with the release of a DLC pack called Heirs of Alexander. This DLC adds a mission tree for the Diadochi, the successors of Alexander the Great, allowing them to war against each other in new ways. It also added dynamic honors and dishonors to new legions and a custom designer that allows players to create their own Great Wonders.

Imperator Imperator: Rome was a huge disappointment when it was first released, and nearly two years later, the major game systems are still being overhauled. Nevertheless, these and past changes have been very well received by the game's community; the patch notes for the Imperator: Rome 2.0 update can be read on Paradox Interactive's forums.
