Update: Ubisoft has since told Eurogamer that Rainbow Six: Quarantine has not been renamed Parasite. While the datamine was mostly accurate, the name is simply a placeholder used by the publisher's internal team; what Quarantine's actual new name is is expected to be known in the near future.

"We recently told you that we were changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, but 'parasite' is just a placeholder used by our internal team," a spokesperson explained.

"We recently conducted internal testing of the game and some of the details have been released. We can confirm that this is a glimpse of the upcoming game and will share more details, including the official name, soon."

Original story According to a report published on MP1st, there is pretty strong evidence that "Rainbow Six Quarantine" will be renamed, as Ubisoft hinted last week. According to the report, "Rainbow Six Parasite" is the new name, and the image above is apparently from a patch uploaded to the PlayStation Network. This patch information was obtained from a site that automatically scrapes title updates for all PSN items. The list can be found here.

It is worth noting that this is for patch 1.01, which is an "early launch patch" according to the list linked above. Perhaps more so than Ubisoft revealed at last week's earnings call, it seems unlikely that such a patch, which seems significant, would exist unless the game's launch is imminent.

However, this is all speculation at this point, even though the key art above looks very convincing.

Last week, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot admitted that a name change for the cooperative horde shooter is being considered, as "Rainbow Six Quarantine" probably doesn't scream "nice chill-out time" like 2019. Despite Ubisoft's silence on the title, a spin-off of the zombie shooter "Siege" is expected to be released this year.
