Valorant's Next Patch Will Kill Popular Night Battle Strategy

Valorant's latest 2.03 patch notes will mess with your mains. The two duelists who will be rebalanced are Yoru, a teleporting newcomer, and Reyna, a soul-sucking vampire who excels in 1vs1 scenarios While Yoru's Ultimate has gained utility that can help the whole team, one of its most interesting uses It loses body blocking.

Here is an overview of the agents that will change in patch 2.03 Gatecrash (E)

Dimensional Drift (X)

REYNA

BRIMSTONE & PHOENIX

Although it would be nice to see Yoru get a little love for automatically sharing the location of enemies he sees in his ghost state, It's a shame that it comes at the expense of body-blocking. It's certainly annoying to play against them over and over again, but I never get tired of seeing players exploit their ghost form, where night is impervious to bullets, to become human meat shields.

In the worst cases, body blocking can even be used to prevent enemies from escaping bomb blasts, as in this clip from uR_Tragic.

Raina's mini-rework here is also worth noting. As far as I can tell, she has traded the maximum capacity of her soul suction capacity for a more consistent supply of soul orbs.

I played Reyna many times before and after Valorant's release, and I certainly found it annoying to lose 1 dosh of health because an ally took the last hit of my kill. Dropping the soul orb with an assist is a natural QOL change, but reducing her use from 4 to 2 is a new major restriction. With four charges, Reyna was basically guaranteed to take some use away from every battle she wins.

Two charges should still cover the number of abrasions that most players get caught in before they die or win a round, but it certainly limits the possibility of Raina popping out and turning a 1vs4 situation around.

Patch 2.03 also brings weapon changes focused primarily on Valorant's lower-grade guns:

MARSHAL

STINGER

FRENZY

A new casual mode with an interesting twist on the gun game The full patch notes, including details of Valorant's plan to deal with AFK players, can be found in a post on Riot's official blog.
