NZXT to Begin Shipping Permanent H1 PC Case Firing Incident Fixed This Month

NZXT will soon begin shipping updated PCIe riser cable assemblies to H1 case owners.

"We have ramped up our resources and started the process of updating PCIe riser cable assemblies earlier than expected." We will begin shipping them in late February to customers who have requested them."

NZXT's Safety Issues blog states.

NZXT's blog states that the company requires this form to be filled out to request a repair kit, but it is not entirely clear if it is a new riser assembly or a nylon screw repair kit.

A new riser assembly is the preferred option because it is intended to correct the root cause of the problem, a screw located too close to the power pin. If left uncorrected, this problem can lead to ignition; NZXT reports that fewer than 10 such incidents have been reported, but that this could increase if left untreated.

Nylon screws also prevent fire hazards, but there was concern that someone had previously removed these screws and replaced them with metal screws, unwittingly creating a hazardous situation.

There are approximately 32,000 H1 cases in the United States alone, all of which require some type of repair. If your case is among them, you can contact NZXT through the details below:

NZXT has also stated that they will begin shipping new cases (temporarily pending) with the new updated riser assembly. It would be a shame to see it disappear altogether, as it is a great small form factor case, except for the glaring flaws.
