WoW: Burning Crusade Classic and upcoming Shadowlands update leaked ahead of BlizzCon

BlizzCon 2021 takes place tomorrow, and it appears that two major World of Warcraft announcements were accidentally leaked by Blizzard itself. Earlier this morning, users discovered a press release for World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic and World of Warcraft's 9.1 update, Chains of Domination, on Blizzard's Press Portal site. Those links have already been removed, but screenshots and press releases are now circulating on Reddit and Wowhead. [The most exciting of the two leaks is World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic, which will let players explore WoW's first expansion pack as it was released in 2007; like WoW Classic, this is effectively like a time machine back into WoW's history, allowing players to play a version of WoW that does not currently exist.

If you jump back to WoW Classic at launch in 2019, Burning Crusade Classic will likely be structured the same way. New raids and dungeons will be rolled out at the same pace as when Burning Crusade was actually the current expansion.

Interestingly, however, players will have the choice of jumping into Burning Crusade Classic or staying at level 60." Prior to the release of Burning Crusade Classic, "WoW Classic players can decide whether to advance their characters into the Burning Crusade era with other realms or continue playing the original WoW Classic content on the new Classic era servers. . or continue playing the original WoW Classic content on the new Classic era servers," the leaked press release states.

Another leaked WoW announcement will not come as much of a surprise to players, as it was expected that Blizzard would reveal the next big update to Shadowlands during the event anyway. But now we know that it is called "Chains of Domination" and sounds like a pretty substantial update. While the leaked press release is not very specific, it seems that a new area for exploration called Korthia, the "secret city" will be added to The Maw zone at the end of the game. Also, 9.1 will allow the use of flying mounts, which should make travel much faster.

The Shadowlands storyline will continue in Chains of Domination, but the more interesting news is the addition of a new raid and a new mega-dungeon (a really big one). The raid, called Sanctum of Domination, is a 10-boss raid that climaxes with a battle against Sylvanas Windrunner himself. A new 8-boss mega-dungeon is called Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, and it sounds awesome from the description: "Gather your party and discover exotic goods and strange creatures in an 8-boss mythic-class mega-dungeon set in a bazaar of mysterious brokers.

Leaks.

None of the leaked press releases specify exact release dates for Burning Crusade Classic and Chains of Domination, but both will be released in 2021; the 9.0.5 update is scheduled for release in March; the 9.0.6 update will be released in September; and the 9.0.7 update will be released in September, Patches are typically released at intervals of several months. [The 9.0.5 update will be released in March, with patches typically released a few months apart.
