Valheim Plus" mod adds shared map system, advanced building mode, and more

Iron Gate Studios, the developer of Valheim, has stated in their FAQ that there is "no official support" for mods. But as we all know, modders want to make mods anyway, and mods for this co-op survival game are already starting to appear.

The biggest so far is a mod called Valheim Plus, which makes changes to the game ranging from item weight values to the speed and output of furnaces, kilns, and fermenters. It increases the stack size of items, allows unprocessed metals to be carried through portals, and even speeds up the production speed of bees.

But even if you don't want to get into all that (making the game easier seems to be the main goal), the mod has some exciting additions to Valheim. For starters, you can place items and building parts with surgical precision, changing the height, rotation, and even angle of each item:

Even more exciting would be the advanced editing mode. If you want to place and move something, like the wooden beam in the video below, you do not need to destroy it first. Instead, you can select it and edit its placement. Very convenient!

Another feature of Valheim Plus that caught my eye was the shared map system. If you play with a friend, you may have wished that the places your friend found on the map could be added to your map as well.

This feature will make that a reality, so that all players' maps will collectively show their progress. (However, you must be online for this to work. If a friend has been exploring for several hours before you log on, you will not be able to see the progress of their map.) By having everyone on the same page, you will know which areas you have already visited on your journey.

This mod's page on Nexus Mods has instructions on how to install the mod both locally and on the server, and how to operate the advanced building and editing modes.

As cool as this sounds, keep in mind that Valheim has only been released for two weeks, is in Early Access, and has no official mod support. how will the mod react when Valheim is updated (it will probably break probably) and how saved worlds and characters will be affected. If you are going to play with mods, please back up your character and world files (we explain how to do this here). Don't be surprised if updates to the game make mod features unusable or make the world inaccessible.

Thanks, PCGamesN.
