Thursday, the second best day of the week starting with a T, is, as promised, Rage 2 and Absolute Drift: Rage 2 and Absolute Drift: Zen Edition are currently free on the Epic Games Store.

With all due respect to Absolute Drift, I think it's safe to say that Rage 2 is the big draw here. In fact, we said in our 2019 review that it had a "forgettable open world, weak story, and terrible vehicle controls," but the actual shooting portion is so good that we gave it a 70% score anyway.

"The moment you're surrounded by enemies, chaining powers and firing rattling guns, you forget about Rage 2's unpalatable world and story," we wrote.

"The combat is a powerful distraction from the game's problems, at least until the shooting stops.

It seems obvious, then, that the best approach to this game is to just keep shooting. Right?

Absolute Drift is a rather subtle experience that lets you drift six different cars in three modes from a top-down perspective. Rally Driving's minimalist flavor is clearly aimed at a more niche audience than mainstream FPS, but it does what it does well, with 90% of Steam's 1,700+ user reviews positive.
