Abundant DLC for "Crusader Kings 2" is now available for a monthly fee.

It's a common theory that Paradox games only really get good after a few expansions are released. But for those who are unsure which of the many DLCs for "Crusader Kings 2" are worth keeping, Paradox is now offering a monthly subscription to try out many of them.

CK2 has garnered a healthy amount of post-launch support since its launch in 2012, with 13 major expansions and dozens more units, portraits, music packs, and more filling the game's store page. Paradox said in a forum post that at this point admits that getting CK2 is a difficult proposition and wants to provide more accessible doors for feudal sims.

"With so much additional content available, the cost of "Crusader Kings II" can seem prohibitive or daunting to players who are new to the game. This title allows players to experience the entire catalog of 'Crusader Kings II' at an affordable price without having to worry about which items to purchase."

Available on Steam for £4/$5 per month, subscribers will have immediate access to all CK2 content as it is released. If they stop paying, they will not have access to all but the basic game, which is free-to-play from October 2019.

Paradox is considering introducing similar subscriptions for other games in the future; DLC can continue to be purchased at full price, which seems like a convenient option for those paralyzed by the excessive DLC that studio games acquire. Paying $5 to see which one you like is not half bad.
