This 7-screen laptop is a new age hacker's dream and costs only $20,700.

Have you ever used a laptop and thought: "I need at least six more screens! Well, a startup company called Expanscape has the solution.

Take a look at the Aurora A7 Prototype. The basic configuration costs only $20,700, not including import fees.

This project, like Razer's Project Valerie, is a prototype for a three-screen laptop based on the company's Blade Pro.

According to Tom's Hardware, prices for the Aurora lineup have been raised in recent months. This is partly due to component shortages and partly due to the new Brexit border policy throughout the UK, where the company is based. However, laptop developers are confident that demand is still high, and those who have purchased their products say they "needed them yesterday."

Some of these apparently healthy numbers of prospective buyers would pay the equivalent of a year's wages just for the privilege of using seven screens on the go. Yet, at 12 kilograms, they may not be the most portable.

But it's not just the screen you're paying for. The current A7 comes with an AMD Ryzen 5950x processor, Nvidia RTX 3070, 128GB RAM, and 8TB NVMe storage, all for $20,700 (£15,000)

Early Aurora 7 prototypes included an Intel Core i9- 9900K CPU, 64GB of DDR4-2666 memory, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, 2TB HDD, four PCIe 3.0 M.2s, and tons of storage including one 2TB SSD, a 2.5-inch MLC SSD.

For those without a fifth of a million dollars in their back pocket, there is a mini version with a 4K, 15.6-inch panel and a small palm-rest touchscreen that is 7 inches and still larger than most standard cell phone screens.

This smaller Aurora A5 notebook has an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U CPU, 64GB of DDR4 memory, 2TB PCIe/NVMe SSD, and 2TB SATA SSD. The price is an affordable $6,286 (£4,500), but does not include import fees for non-UK residents.

Since the price has just been announced, it is unclear how much will change before the prototype reaches the final design, but I hope not too much as I am a fan of the "Half-Life 2" look combined interface.

Shaving a few pounds off the weight and organizing the cables a bit might be an idea, though.

Update 02/19 - The current specs for the A7 prototype were listed as an older version, but this has now been corrected.
