Check out Sojourn's devastating railgun in Overwatch 2.

Even though "Overwatch 2" is still over a year away, the folks at Blizzard had a lot to say about it at Blizzcon 2021. One of the best behind-the-scenes moments of "Overwatch 2" was getting our first close look at the game's outstanding new hero, Sojourn.

From the 2019 announcement, we had speculated that she would have some explosive capabilities and a weapon similar to the Soldier 76 assault rifle, but now we have a better idea of how it works. Her secondary weapon turned out to be a precision-fired railgun. According to the movements we glimpsed, once Sojourn's shot is set, she'll be able to tear through squishy heroes in no time. Let's see:

Oh no, I don't want to be a part of that one. Sojourn's secondary appears to charge each shot before firing. Like the Widowmaker's scoped rifle, it displays a handy power level number that indicates the power of the next shot.

This railgun is more of a situational alternate fire, and this full-auto mode would be the main operation. The reticle and spread pattern is closer to a machine gun (think Orisa or Sombra) than the methodical rate of fire of a Soldier.

And that's all we know about Sojourne from the showcase video, other than the fact that he seems to be good friends with Winston. Haha.

Her other abilities are still a mystery, but we do know that she can effectively use her mechanical arm as some sort of backup gun and possibly a grenade launcher. The icon for her abilities seen in gameplay clips suggests some sort of explosion, but it could also be an AoE field.

Unfortunately, this may be all we see from Sojourn and "Overwatch 2" as a whole for some time. Activision Blizzard recently announced that the game will not be released in 2021. Hopefully, this time next year our speculation will be clear.

Here's everything we learned at Blizzcon 2021.
