With the release of the latest patch behind them, Everspace 2 developer Rockfish Games has announced the development roadmap for the 2021 Early Access space shooter. New features will include new ship subclasses for players and new activities in various locations in the game world. Additionally, the game's main storyline will be added, something the developers had not previously planned.

The first update this spring will feature light fighters specializing in speed and defensive reconnaissance and heavy fighter-bombers specializing in missiles and mines. New story missions will also be added. The summer update will add a new system with new enemies and raise the level cap for players. The fall update will introduce two more types of fighters, as well as new regions and fast travel.
